Why
are you selling these?
First
off, to make money of course. Secondly, being
big a fan of these films, I got tired of seeing other fans getting
gouged by rip-off dealers who sell overpriced, shitty looking tapes
& DVD-Rs of movies that they have no interest in! We strive
to bring you good looking videotapes and DVDs at affordable prices.
There are so many amazing movies out there that for one reason or
another are impossible to find. This is what we love and what we specialize
in. So I figured, why not provide a service and "support my habit"
(ie- make a few bucks) on the side? Kapish?
Are these tapes & DVD-Rs
illegal?
Absolutely not! These
movies are all believed to be in the public domain and are sold from
one collector to another. No rights are given or implied!
What
we are selling is the service of duplicating the tape or disc, the
same as if you took a foreign format videotape into a dealer and paid
to have it converted into your format, only for much less of what
that would cost to do. If a particular title does become commercially
available in the U.S. we must and will discontinue selling it immediately.
Furthermore, we reserve the right NOT to sell a title for any reason
we deem necessary! Also, there are certain countries that have their
own laws about what is legal to import. Therefore the customer assumes
all responsibility for titles prohibited in these countries. In other
words, we are not responsible for videotapes that are confiscated
by the post office in that country. (This has only ever happened once
but you never know!)
What
is your source for these movies? Where do you get them?
Anywhere
we can! Seriously, it varies a lot from title to title; Many are transfers
of films from private collectors, others are transfers of way out-of-print
tapes from Greece, France, Japan, etc., which is why some English
language films have non-English subtitles. If you want to know on
a particular title just ask and we'll tell you!
How do these movies look? What
is the picture quality like?
It varies from title to title. Generally, they look very good
and if not I will almost always mention any problems in that particular
title's description. Bare in mind that these are copies, albeit high
quality copies, but still they are dubs and are usually not going
to look like a new store-bought movie. We do use professional dubbing
equipment, digital "video noise" reducers, digital color
enhancers, etc. when necessary. Again, most look very good and we've
had very few complaints ever. Please email me about a certain title
if you are concerned.
Do you have any other titles
available?
At this time we are only offering the titles listed there.
What don't you sell?
We do NOT sell child pornography, bestiality or anything illegal so
please don't even ask. Again, we do NOT sell dubs of anything available
commercially in the U.S.A.
Do you trade movies?
We do occasionally trade, but honestly it is very difficult to
find the few things I really need at this point. I'm mainly interested
in original pre-recorded videotapes, particularly titles from the
late 60's and 70's. I am not interested in copies of things unless
they are of good quality and hard to find. I'm not interested in dubs
of tapes from Idiot Search and other rip-off companies like them.
Is that a wig?
No, it's my real hair.
Do you guarantee these videotapes
and DVD-Rs against defects?
All
of our Collectors' Movies are guaranteed against "major defects".
An occasional glitch from our master source does not qualify as a
defect! In the unlikely event of something being defective, it will
be promptly replaced with a non-defective copy of the same movie.
Again, bare in mind that these are dubs, not original prerecorded
videotapes or DVDs, so while they will generally look surprisingly
good they will NOT look like a store bought movie. Video
dubbing tends to soften the movie a tiny bit. DVD-R dubbing seems
to retain the sharpness but can sometimes pick up a tiny bit of "aritfacting".
Also, we are not responsible if you buy a film from us that you already
own under another title!
Can I play DVD-Rs on my player?
This is a relatively new format so before buying one you should
do a bit of research to make sure your DVD player can actually play
them. Many older players will still play DVD-Rs fine even though it
may not mention it in the instruction manual or on the player's box.
If you're not sure about your player, try looking it up online at
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php
(an excellent site!) to see for sure.
In short (too late for that, right?), we
suggest that if you’re not sure about anything to contact
us. We’d be happy to explain the particulars of a certain film
as best we can.
